Tea completes me. I have always been an ardent fan of tea in different kinds of forms. The bubble tea/milk tea/tea shops in general here is pretty much saturated with tea shops of different names popping up, each claiming to offer something different from its competitors.
Partea first caught my eye with its Suntec City outlet and its latest outlet at Wisma Atria. The man behind Partea is Hunan-born Alex Xiang, who has been living in Singapore for the past 13 years. On the menu are about 30 types of tea beverages, from fruit-infused ones to eight hour-long cold brews. The tea leaves originate from both Taiwan and China, including Sijichun (four seasons) oolong from Taiwan and Pu’er from China. We tried 4 drinks including their newly launched Lemon Lime Tea.
Rainbow Tea (Gaoshan Oolong Tea with fruits)
Large – $5.90, XL – $6.90
The rainbow tea is one of Partea’s specialties and I chose the Gaoshan Oolong because I love Oolong tea. I was also told that the tea leaves were from Taiwan and were particularly fragrant. No regrets picking this because the tea was smooth and fragrant with a slightly robust aftertaste. The fruits included were juicy and fresh. I liked how the taste of the tea was unaffected by the fruits and held its own.
Fluffy Cloud Tea – Matcha + Latte ($5.90)
Being such a huge lover of Matcha, I had to get this. The taste of the Matcha was sweet at notes, with its bitter notes shining through in the aftertaste. The addition of milk did not detract the drink away from its purpose of making Matcha the star of the drink. I will get this drink again.
Sijichun Tea + Latte ($4.90)
Sijichun (Four Seasons) originates from Taiwan and this is my first time drinking this tea. This tea has an intense floral aroma and delicate fruity taste without any bitterness or dryness, with an aftertaste that is rich and slightly sweet.
Lemon Lime Tea ($4.90)
Among the four teas, this tea was the least exciting for me in terms of flavour profile. The tea was refreshing to say the least, but I felt that most lemon lime drinks taste the same. I did not see how Partea’s rendition differentiated itself from the norm.
